We live in a throwaway society and many of us don’t think twice before putting things in the rubbish bin. Even with the rise of council provided recycling facilities, we still throw away too much.

As part of her personal attempt to reduce the amount of waste she produces, Juliet re-uses junk to make craft items! Mostly she re-uses cardboard, old office stationery and magazines to make items such as greetings cards, notelets, notebooks, collages and bookmarks. Mostly she makes these for herself or for friends and family members, but would consider selling things if there was an interest.

Crafty Green Poet shares many of Juliet’s craft ideas, in the hope of stimulating more crafters to think about using junk in their work and stimulating everyone to think more carefully about their waste and whether they can start to make things out of this waste.

Making crafts out of waste materials saves resources and money and results in personally made cards or gifts that stand out from the mass produced items all around us.
